Who'd thought as a former Liz Earle addict I'd let anything touch my skin, I'm still fond of Clean and Polish and have a bottle at my boyfriends house but I've found a couple of things which just go that extra mile.

First up is Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm, loved by bloggers and editors everywhere. Once I gave into the hype I could see why it's so popular. It melts away even the heaviest eye makeup and I find it super relaxing as I massage it into my face for a few minutes, that being said I only use this at night but my mum loves to use this in the morning so each to their own I guess.

Next is the Decleor Aroma Cleanse cleansing milk, it's lovely with the Clarisonic which I've fallen back in love with. I never really fell out with it, just left it a bit neglected. I use this in the mornings and some nights if my makeup isn't too heavy. It's as the name suggests a creamy milky texture, very light on the skin and cleanses wonderfully, my skin has become less congested around the forehead since using this.
My mum introduced this to me, well she left it in the bathroom and my curiosity got the better of me. It was love at first use so when I saw it in the sale on Feel Unique I had to pick up another bottle. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a lighter cleanser.

Firstly I'd like to thank Leighton Denny for naming the current shade on my nails, stuck for a name for this post I glanced down and decided to name it after one of my favourite nail varnishes.

I'm a pale girl, vampire pale, most of the time I'm cool with that but sometimes I just need a boost to stop the sun glare off my legs. An old favourite is Dove Summer Glow Gradual Tan, which I build up over a few days making sure to exfloliate as I go along, it's the easy route to glowing skin and if you mess up a bit no-one will really notice.

A newbie to the line up is Rodial Brazilian Tan in Clear which I got free with Elle magazine a few months ago, I'm not sure I'd buy the full price although it is currently in the Space NK sale so maybe, just maybe I'll pick it up.

My all time favourite self tanner is the Make Believe Little White Lie tanner, it smells bad but the colour is just perfect for me and I'm yet to have a streak when applying it. As I may have said, a hundred times, I'm super pale so it's pretty easy to notice I've fake tanned but this just stops my limbs reflecting the sun and blinding poor passers by.

For a fast fix I head to St Tropez Instant Glow Lotion, it's scarily dark and you have to work fast but when it works out, the fast application and temporary orange hands are worth it. Although if you aren't a vampire like me I'm not sure of the colour pay-off.

I've not yet found a tanner I like on my face, so atm I'm simply using Bourjois Bronzing Primer, which I use across my cheekbones, forehead and down my neck applied with a stippling brush.

I know, I know it's still Summer and it's currently around 24 degrees outside but I've been looking at AW collections at work a lot over the past weeks, so it's made me wonder about makeup during these colder months.

Next season I plan on going all out on the jewel tones, I picked up this Sleek Ultra Matts palette a couple of weeks ago for only £3.50 as one of the pans was broken. I find coloured eyeshadow a lot easier to wear during the winter months, probably due to the somewhat moody colours my wardrobe dishes out. I can also see the Smashbox trio in Auto Expose playing a large part in my autumn routine as the cranberry tones are ideal for warming up the face, cranberry shades are also great for Christmas. Winter months also calls for lashings of liner smudged out, my current offering is the Liz Earle Eye Pencil in Black.

Every autumn I fall back in love with Quite the Thing! by MAC, it's the perfect berry shade for AW and I find myself reaching for it on a daily basis. It can be worn blotted out and muted for daytime for that 'just bitten' look or straight out of the bullet for an intense berry lip.

Also for the lips I've dragged out my Topshop Lip Glaze I bought on a whim last year as it was a quid but I never really used it but I'm gonna give it another go this year as I love the formula.

Have any of you been planning ahead to the next season?

Although I tend to find myself pulling my hair into a bun 95% of the time during the summer, damn pollen getting stuck in my hair, occasionally I find myself risking watery eyes and a runny nose all in the name of looking good.

Like most people I love a good beach wave during the summer months, I have very fine hair which can look a bit flat so anything to oomph up the volume grabs my attention. At the moment I'm combining Bumble and Bumble Prep Spray with their Thickening Spray and giving it a quick blast with a hairdryer at the roots. I then spray the lengths with Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, a new salt spray addition to my collection and by far the best.

If starting on day old hair I spray some dry shampoo into my roots, current go to is Klorane Dry Shampoo which gives a great boost of volume as well as making it appear clean. This one is also great for a quick spritz in my fringe on sweaty days if I need a quick freshen up.

Another hair must-have at the moment is the Ojon Dry Recovery Mist, it gives a quick injection of moisture and helps to de-tangle hair, especially good after I've curled my hair and it's looking a bit crazy come morning.

Who doesn't love a good grungey smokey eye? I for one love to channel my inner MKA Olsen on a regular basis and I think I may have finally found my holy grail products to achieve the perfect Olsen twin smokey eye.

My most recent addition to the line-up are the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in the shades Permanent Taupe and On and On Bronze, just a swipe across the eyelid and a gentle smudge on the lower lashline and you're good to go.

Older favourites include Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Kajal in Taupe which I draw along my lashline top and bottom then smudge out with a pencil brush, it's probably the shortest wearing but it's a good daytime option. Another offering from Rimmel is the Scandal Eyes Crayons in Bulletproof Beige and Bad Girl Bronze, I tend to use both of these together, with the beige all over the lid and the bronze smudged into the outer with a fluffy brush but I find the bronze too red toned to use on the lower lashline.

As for powder products, I only look to these when I have a bit more time as I can get carried away with getting the perfectly blended shadow. Smashbox Photo Op Trio in Auto Expose is my current go to, largely due to the stunning dark taupe shade used all over the lid and gently smoked along my lower lid. In order to add more depth to this look I add the cranberry in the outer corners and lightly blend it across the lid.

No matter which option I lean towards when getting ready I always finish the look off with a couple of coats of Benefit's They're Real mascara.

I've recently been introduced to Decleor Aromessence Excellence body oil which leaves my skin feeling the best it has in a while, I have pretty dehydrated skin on my arms and legs so I welcome anything helps to get rid of my crocodile skin. I've been a long term lover of their Aromessence Neroli, I use three drops of this across my face and neck as part of my night time routine, so whilst it's a tad pricey it does last a long time. Both leave my skin completely silky soft without a touch of oilyness.

Another favourite for my face is Balance Me Radiance Face Oil, it's probably the most affordable one here coming in at around £15 for 10ml of product, which as it's an oil lasts a pretty long time. I roll a bit onto my fingers then warm it up between my fingertips and pat into my skin.

Lastly hair oils, probably the least scary and most popular of the oils. I've never used Moroccan oil but I've always found Ojon oils to be the best, I've just started the use the Rare Blend Oil but it's working really well so far, I have terribly dry hair at the ends . I alternate between this and a mini bottle of Milk Shake Argan Oil, which smells amazing (Am I the only one who hates the smell of most hair oils?)Chloehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17781862661318864384noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385988957702627041.post-81120792931162595302013-07-02T10:52:00.000+01:002013-07-02T10:52:00.981+01:00Sale Bits

Sales are my weakness, all the things I've loved over the past season suddenly seem so much more appealing with a discount.

So far this year I've largely stuck to things I have wanted over the past couple of months, the scarf and earrings were impulse buys but the rest have been on my list a little while so that's totally okay right?

My first stop for sale shopping this season was Whistles, where I picked up a much lusted after leather makeup bag, mine is black on the front and a gorgeous lilac on the back. I also picked up this twisted leather cuff and a basic lilac t-shirt. I spent way too much but hopefully these things will be on rotate for quite a while.

I then dragged my boyfriend into Zara where I finally got my hands on this printed bodycon skirt, I've been after it for a while and when I finally tracked in down in was the sale-perfect. I also grabbed this strange but cute t-shirt with a bat printed on it and the word 'meow', who knows why but I think it's cute and sure to get people talking about your outfit. These nude and bright blue ballet flats also grabbed my eye, not a huge discount but I've seen these styles in many shops for much more so as it was the last pair in my size they came home with me.

A quick nip into Topshop and I ended up walking out with the green scarf which is really lightweight but still a fighter against the harsh breeze, I imagine I'll be able to work it into my wardrobe during the winter months too. I also picked up this blush stick which is a pretty similar colour to my long lost (but now found in my boyfriend's room) cream blush in Neon Rose so it's gone into the back of my makeup stash to hold out for a little while. These muted neon earrings also grabbed my attention, I like to stock up on Topshop jewellery in the sale as sometimes I feel it's a tad overpriced but still so on trend, these are huge on my little ears but I'll make it work.

Has anyone else picked up any great bargains in the sales this season?

I've pretty much bitten my nails my whole but at the beginning of this year I decided I'd had enough of my nails looking horrible and began painting them regularly, treating them nicely and stopped nibbling them. They still need some work as they break pretty easily but this lot is helping them on their way.

My first must have is the Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File, I love this because it shapes my nails gently and quickly. It's pricey but it lasts for ages, I've had mine for about 4 years and there is still no sign of wear.

The Nails Inc Nail and Cuticle oil pen was a gift from my mum as she used it to strengthen her nails a while back and it quickly settled into my night routine so it has about 8 hours to sink in and do it's magic. Another cuticle product I love is Ciate's Beautiful Cuticles

L'Occitane hand creams are my favourite, although I am dipping into the Soap and Glory Hand Food territory but nothing will come close to the softness L'Occitane leaves me with. I keep this in my handbag and apply it regularly throughout the day.

As I'm miss clumsy when it comes to nail varnish, always chipping within two days- I bump my nails on everything, I need a good base coat and top coat. My choices atm are Nails Inc Hyde Park basecoat and Ciate Speed Coat top coat, both of them make my nail polish stay on just that bit longer.

I always have a greige colour in rotation when it comes to painting my nails, I'm currently loving bright colours on my nails but I can always rely on a greige to save the day when I'm unsure of what colour to paint them. Fade to Greige is my current go to but I have plenty of options including Barry M Mushroom and Nails Inc Jermyn Street.

I'm very fond of a pencil product, they're quick, they're easy and on top of all that they're pretty portable too. I normally throw a couple in my handbag for emergency touch ups on the go. Creamy pencil products are perfect for me to carry around as I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to topping up make-up during the day and these only require a quick swipe then you're done.

Lip crayons are my particular favourite of mine atm and most brands both high street and high end have something on offer, I have one from NARS, an offering from Revlon and one from MUA. Both the Revlon and the MUA one are pretty long lasting as the glossy balm wears off too leave a slight stain on the lips but the NARS one is still my favourite even if you have to top it up at lot throughout the day.

I'm really lusting after a Rimmel Scandaleyes crayon but the colours I want are always open and smushed all over the lid/rest of crayon/counter. I have no idea why people do this, it's one thing to open a non tester product but to then proceed to ruin the product is another.

For eyes I do however use the Rimmel Scandaleyes pencil liner in Taupe to create a smokey lid, teamed with a peachy pencil along the waterline and inner corners and a smudge of a golden brown Topshop crayon into the upper lash line to define the eyes a bit more. It's a pretty easy eye look which can be easily built upon if I end up going out in the evening without looking too try hard.

MAC Quite the Thing, I'm not even sure what drew me to this shade. I was in MAC after a new lipstick, something a bit bolder than my usual nude pink and one of the sales assistants suggested this, it's a purple toned fuchsia pink and was once completely out of my comfort zone. When I got it home I wondered if I'd make the wrong choice and was just swept away by the assistants charm. Now however it's probably the most worn shade in my collection and I don't regret picking it up for one second.

Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose, I love both the formula and the shade. Whilst only a lip balm product, the colour stays on pretty well and of course nourishes the lips whilst doing so. It's easy to just stick on the lips to add a quick pick me up to your make-up, it's a lovely bold red shade which appears quite sheer on the lips so I imagine it'd be wearable for all skin tones. On me I love this with a simple winged liner and soft pink cheeks on a day to day basis, it's especially great as a simple work make-up look.

Model's Prefer in Sheer Rose, this is an oldie but a firm favourite as you can probably tell from the packaging. As the name suggests it's a sheer rose pink and the best pink I've ever owned, sadly I think it's now discontinued but I'll save the search till this baby is finished. This lipstick also has a gorgeous soft gold shimmer to it, it's hardly noticeable when on the lips but just adds an extra shine to the finish of the lipstick. It's a shade which goes with any make-up look and can be worn for any occasion, which makes this a great go to lipstick.

I'm a bit of a slacker with perfume, I usually only remember to pop it on when I'm off out for the evening, it's probably down to the fact I tend to keep my bottles in their original box on my top shelf so as to keep them out of the sunlight.

I'd say I have quite a solid perfume collection, there isn't really any scent or occasion gaps but that's not to say I don't lust over the prospect of new additions, Escentric Molecule 01 hype anyone?

My favourite perfume atm is the original Stella, I also happen to love the new summer addition but can't really justify spending that much on a new scent. I've used this on and off since I was about 16/17 so it's a long time favourite and I imagine once I finish this up I will repurchase or pop it on a Christmas/Birthday list.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is my all time favourite, I also have a roller ball version of this which stays put in my handbag for when I do forget perfume i.e. a lot. It's really lovely for daytime or casual evening events. My mother had this perfume first and I often stole quick spritzes until I eventually owned my own bottle.

The perfume I find hardest to wear is Chanel Chance, yes it's one of the lightest Chanel perfumes and I do love it but i just find it super heavy most of the time. It's very classic though so I imagine I'll always be able to wear this scent or lend it to friends when they fancy something a bit different.

I picked this up the other week from Feel Unique, I really love Benefit box sets but they usually come with a foundation or concealer in a shade far too dark for my skintone so I've had to miss out. This set however comes with everything you need for that perfect bronze glow and no medium shade foundation.

I largely went for this because I was going to buy Hoola bronzer, but didn't want to go for the full size straight off, and I also wanted to give the other products a go, I'm already a big fan of They're Real so I thought I'd treat myself (I later treated myself to a Givenchy Lipstick but the less said about that the better). I've also realised I'm a far bigger Benefit fan than I thought I was.

Now onto the kit itself, yes it looks beautiful l but does that make it worth the money?

Hoola is a perfect bronzer for my pale skin, I'm sure it can be built up if necessary but I only need a light dusting to add warmth to my face. I've also used it to contour lightly, I've not used the brush provided but I've found out with Benefit boxes they aren't great unless in an emergency.

Watts Up highlighter doesn't really suit my skin tone as it's more gold toned- maybe when I have a tan it'll work a lot better but for now I need to blend it loads, which to be fair is very easy and the glow stays on for the whole day.

The creaseless cream eyeshadow and the powder shadow (Bikini-tini and Thanks a Latte) are really nice worn together for a neutral look. In the summer months with a neutral lip I'd add a bright eyeliner with this. Thanks a Latte is a lovely bronzey brown, it kinda feels like it belongs in a Naked Palette so I'd probably mix a couple of the shadows from there with this for a more defined eye.

The surprise love from this kit is the Hoola lipgloss, I'm not a gloss person, at all- my hair gets on my lips, then gloss gets all over my face, and my lips look a bit plastic- okay I largely hate lipgloss but this is a bit different isn't sticky and adds just a touch of shine. The lack of stickiness means the wear time is short so you'd have to top up a lot but you don't need to apply much.

The kit also comes with a Tips and Tricks booklet and a huge mirror, although I probably wouldn't travel with this kit, the large mirror would come in handy. The Tip and Tricks booklet is full of really good basic tips, which would be perfect for beginners.

Overall the kit is really lovely, I'm not sure the amount of product you get is worth the price but I'll fully decide that when i see how long the Hoola lasts. I do love this kit and as I'm not usually a bronzer person this is perfect for me as everything I need is in one package but I'd say if you already have a stash of bronzers this probably won't change your life.

It'd make a fantastic gift for someone though, even if like me that person is yourself.

The Bronze of Champions is available now and costs £26.50

I'm a bit of a blush hoarder, I would like to say I have a huge range of cheek colours but I honestly don't, I like pale pink blushers which aid in giving me that 'English Rose' look. I'm really pale so they are the easiest to apply, it's pretty hard to overload.

These three products are ones I find myself going back to again and again, they also happen to be a brilliant mix of textures and finishes.

Illamasqua cream blush is possible the best blusher I've ever used, it's just perfect when applied using a stippling brush. In the pan it looks scary but when applied to the cheeks it's actually very fresh looking and soft.I really want some more Illamasqua cream blushes but as I don't actually need them I'll hold off for now.

A very old favourite here too, Ruby and Millie face gloss has been in my makeup bag a long time. The whole line went into administration a few years ago but I stocked up so I wouldn't run out for a while. Sadly I'm on my last one now and I'm looking for a replacement. It barely gives any colour just a subtle dewy glow, the colour can be built up but I find this makes my face too glossy. It's great in the summer as it doesn't feel or look heavy, it just gives a really natural flush.
I'm sure going to miss this product so if any of you know a good dupe I'm all ears

Benetint is my final favourite, I was always a bit scared of using this but I took the plunge and have never looked back. It's perfect for creating that soft glow under foundation or creating more depth on top of foundation. This is the least dewy of the cheek products and really lasts the whole day, I usually use a light pink blush on top of this, that way there's no need to touch up my makeup throughout the day.

An honourable mention also goes to Benefit Dandelion but I'm out atm and can't really afford the £20+ price tag.

Filling four Muji drawers to the brim was my first sign I needed to limit my spending, the second tip off was discovering I owned several back ups of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I'm not even that big a fan.

Whilst I was condensing my collection I found and rediscovered some amazing products I usually overlook. I decided to shop within my stash rather than John Lewis or Boots.

First up is the Philosophy the Present, I much prefer Philosophy's old primer 'Supernatural' but they discontinued it. This one requires a two minute settling time but I find it needs closer to ten, so it's a no go on those rush mornings. When given the time this is an amazing product but I'm usually in a rush to get ready so it's not ideal.

Next is the bareMinerals blusher in pink petal, which I love I just sort of forgot about for the longest time. Now I've rediscovered it and can see it becoming my daily blusher once more. As the name suggests it's a real soft petal pink and is very build-able. Another bareMinerals product is great worn with this blush and that's their lipgloss in ambrosia which is a lovely soft pink and not too sticky or shiny which is perfect for me as I'm not really a gloss person.

I'm also giving Bourjois Healthy Mix another go, I liked it when I first picked this up but I just couldn't see the hype. I only fond the coverage okay and thought it wore off pretty quickly, this actually brings me to another product I've rediscovered the Elf Mineral Concealer which is great to set liquid or cream concealers. It also seems to stop the creasing under the eyes that the healthy mix creates.

Finally I'm currently using benefit's Total Moisture face cream at night, it's too thick for me to use during the day. I'm not really sure of the skin benefits(ha) but it makes my skin nice and soft so it's good for now. I got this in a trial kit a while back and didn't really fall for the skincare range so never bothered with this until now, when I actually need a night cream.

I'll be back with this in 2 weeks to give a round up of how they worked out for me.

I realised I perhaps should venture into a different lip colour when 4 of these products ended up in my handbag but then again if it ain't broke why fix it.

This was once my go to colour in winter opting for a nude/pink in the summer months but I kept finding myself returning to this colour time after time. I usually wear this products pressed into the lips to appear as a matte stain for daytime then gloss it up for evening or special occasions. A few years ago I never would have gone for anything this dark with my super pale complexion but I risked it with this Mac lipstick because I fell in love with the shade and since then the pinky plums have been rolling in.

Is there a lipstick shade you can't get enough of or are the rest of you slightly sane when it comes to lip products?

I've not used Bioderma or any other cleansing waters but when this one popped up in Superdrug I had to have it. B. Pure is quite a new addition to Superdrug and as it is their own brand it's cruelty free, they have a lot of products on offer including a makeup range- I picked up a blush from there today.

First timed I used this I wasn't sure, it kinda stung my eyes and I wasn't sure if it was doing more than a cleansing wipe but I wanted to give it a proper go and not give up after one use. It didn't irritate my skin at all or leave me with any dry patches which tends to be a huge problem with non-wash off cleansers so I stuck with it.

After a week I realised it was taking off all my makeup- just not as well as my Emma Hardie balm does or as relaxing for that matter but it was getting my foundation off better and I don't wake up with panda eyes.

This is good for late night cleanses and only takes about 30 seconds more than a trusty cleansing wipe, so when I'm just too tired or don't feel great I love using this. Obviously I can't compare this to Bioderma but it appears to do the same job but I've heard people say a little goes a long way, this product however I need to use a lot of this to fully get my face clean.

However the reason I love this product is because my skin doesn't love being cleansed with the same cleanser day and night, this is quick and means I can get straight on with applying my makeup so no getting up early just to wash my face. I probably would purchase this product again as it's only £4.99 and cleanses better than a wipe but maybe I'll give Bioderma a go now it's becoming easier to pick up in the UK.Chloehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17781862661318864384noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2385988957702627041.post-29947850242818265032013-03-22T13:58:00.002+00:002013-03-22T13:58:40.970+00:00Beauty Audit

This blog post is inspired by an article I saw in InStyle way back in January, where the staff spoke about the products they'd used that morning with a little bit of info on their routine, so here is my beauty audit.

To start my daily routine I also used an Origins foaming cleanser but it finished so I binned it in slightly unblogger like behaviour, then an Origins eyecream and day cream.

I went for simple makeup as I'm not up to much today, just lightly covered skin with dewy blush and highlight, a slight smokey eye created with a Rimmel Taupe pencil then heavily curled lashes with tons of mascara followed by a lipstain with a bit of gloss.

I'm fairly low maintenance when it comes to my hair, I love curling it or making it perfectly straight but as my hair can't hold a curl and frizzes at the first sign of moisture most days I tend to just mess it up a bit with texture spray and a detangler of some kind to soften the ends and add a bit of shine- this morning it was Ojon moisture mist. I just got my hair cut the other day so my hair is easier to work with now all my damaged hair has gone- it's strange working with roughly 3 inches less hair than I'm used to.

In total I used 15 products (14 pictured), that's a hell of a lot more than I expected as today I probably used half what I normally would in my makeup routine- eek maybe we've found where my spending ban should lie.

Benefit They're Real- This has been in my daily routine for a
while a now, it's very popular in the beauty world and I love it
because it really opens my eyes on those early mornings.

Topshop
Felt Liner- I love a good felt liner and I keep coming back to this
one, sometimes it randomly goes a bit dry but other than that it's easy
to use and doesn't end up halfway across my face, I'm looking at you
Collection 2000. My usual routine will just be a fine line across the
lashline, occasionally adding a little wing.

Topshop
Skin Glow- I'll be the first to admit I'm a highlight addict, I
especially like the ones Topshop has to offer for both quality and
price.

Bobbi Brown Corrector- I don't really have
bad skin but I have terrible undereye circles and this is only thing
that makes a difference, I team it with a concealer which atm is Collection 2000 illuminating touch to really help brighten the area.

Korres Lipbalm in Rose-I'm so in love with this lipbalm, it's the
perfect bitten lip red and in colder months the beauty look I get
obsessed with is flawless skin with very plain eye makeup and stained
lips. Probably due to how easy it is to create on cold mornings when I'd
rather still be in bed.

Illamasqua Liquid Light
Foundation- Nearly at the end of this now, which is a real shame as I
really loved using this foundation. It doesn't have much coverage as the
name suggests but it evens my skintone and doesn't look cakey, so it's
perfect for day to day use.

MAC Creme Colour Base and
Benefit Dandelion- These are my current go to cheek combo, both are
pretty subtle but together they build up a soft rosey colour which is
pretty similar to the colour my cheeks go when I've been outside too
long.

MUA Kissproof Lipstain- I tend to throw this
on just before I leave the house if it's windy or I have to eat my
breakfast on the move. It doesn't really budge foe the whole day but
rather gets lighter, still leaving a little bit of colour on my lips so I
don't look too ghost like.

A new year is as good a time as any to change the way you shop or the way you style yourself, I'm happy with my personal style so there's no big overhaul planned just a few simple changes to the way I shop and work with the clothes I do own.

1. Shop Within My Own Wardrobe

The fact my wardrobe is overflowing probably tells me I own too much stuff but like most, I probably only wear about half of it. As you will see later on one of my resolutions is to spend less so shopping within my own stuff is probably the easiest way to do that. My plan to make this happen is to regularly reorganise my wardrobe, rotate garments around so that I style new things together and in turn help me create a new wardrobe without spending a penny.

2. No Reckless Spending

Last year I spent a lot of money on clothes, I just bought 95% of things I liked and whilst a lot of it I will wear again this year I also need to start saving money. A result of this is probably why my wardrobe is overflowing and how I forget exactly what I own, my rule this year for shopping is going to be if I want something, it has to work with 50% of my current wardrobe.

3. Stop Shopping in Cheap Places for Stuff That Only Gets Worn Once

I like Primark as much as the next person but as it's so cheap I think 'Oh it doesn't matter that I'll wear it once' well eventually that builds up to big money. In the past few years I've gone off most of Primark's clothing, as I think the quality has gone down but the prices have risen, still a huge fan of pyjamas, tights and accessories. My plan this year is to buy fewer but more expensive items, so they continue to be part of my wardrobe for years to come-style over fashion.

4. Invest in Good Shoes

I literally own no shoes I can wear with trousers in the winter and most of shoes are the £4 ones from primark which last well in the summer but as soon as they get wet their life is as good as over. I find boots and many shoes on the high street are too chunky for my liking, as a five foot person with size six feet it's hard to not look a bit clown like with most shoes. This year I plan to invest in some ankle boots which can handle the rain and a pair of shoes which can be worn with most of my wardrobe.

5. Get Rid of Anything That Makes Me Unhappy.

Probably the most important resolution here, I sometimes take about an hour to get dressed because I don't like the way something makes me feel.I know my body shape and I know what suits me, so anything which doesn't fit the category needs to go, no matter how much I love it on the hanger.

This campaign is simply beautiful and perfect for Spring, it's loaded with nice bright colours and Emma looks so good with a bold eye and whilst I'm not the biggest Emma fan I love her hair short.

The products are shown off in this shot, which i always prefer so you can almost see how to recreate the look and in the warmer months I often wear bright coloured eyeliner.

Origins Drink Up Mask

A real treat and beauty bloggers
favourite, it's easy to see why. I apply this once a week about an hour
before bed otherwise my face sticks to the pillow- nice. This is an intensive overnight mask which you let sink into your skin and do it's magic, this is a cult product for me I love everything about it and it's especially nice since my skin does what it wants it winter.

L'Occitane Toner

Only just got this really but so
far I am liking it, it smells really nice but whilst it's a spitz toner
its really wet so I tend to spray on cotton wool pads then dab on my
face otherwise you have to dry your face before applying moisturiser and
thus remove most of the product.I'm yet to see any real benefits yet but I've always felt that way with toners so we'll see how I feel once this is used up.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish- Special Edition

I use Liz Earle
all year round, I got this Special Edition version with my birthday
money in September and I love it. it's perfect for cold winter night
cleansing. Sadly I'm running low now and it appears to be sold out
everywhere. I either use the regular Liz Earle in the morning or a water cleanser as my skin doesn't really like being cleansed twice a day.

Steam Cream

A new favourite for me, I've been searching for a
moisturiser which ticks all the boxes and atm this one is but I've only
been using it about two weeks so we'll have to wait and see what happens
after a month. It makes my skin lovely and soft but not too tacky and I can start applying makeup within minutes.

Origins Eye Cream

I've not used a huge amount of eye creams but
this is my favourite, so I've been using this for about a year now. I'm
coming to the end of my pot now so will have to use up a couple I have
hanging around before buying a new one.

I love how
cooling this cream is on the eyes and it's very slightly reflective so
helps to brighten up my awful under eye circles. It's really light and easy to massage into the skin, which means less touching of the area.

Simple Night Cream

I'll
be the first to admit I'm a product snob, I like higher end products
but I simply love this, I like it almost as much as I like the Clarins
Overnight cream but it's like £30 cheaper. I'm not sure if it would really work on older skin but I always wake up with soft skin that feels fresh and replenished. It's not as thick as other night creams I've tried but as I use a treatment mask once a week I don't I need it to be that thick.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

I got a little sample
of this way back in February when I went to IMATS and fell in love with
it as did my mother but at around £40 we wrote it off as a nice treat we'd never own
but then one weekend my mum came home from Harrods with a bottle for us
to share. I use this once a week as I have sensitive skin and also to save
product. It really gets off any dry skin without being too harsh or
getting all over my face.

I love this because you mix up the paste yourself meaning it can be as harsh or as gentle as you like.

I normally give out a few jokey/fun presents and they are fantastic for the person who has everything. I usually grab something along these lines for my brothers as we don't really do presents but something small and amusing is always welcome and I like gift giving. This is also my last gift guide so I thought it'd be perfect to end on a fun note, I often add little jokey presents as extras to people's main gifts.

Whilst a strange present this paper rose is the perfect gift for someone who has everything and loves to read or if you simply don't know what kind of book they like to read.

Personalised gifts are always welcome, either opt for this family portrait which you can adapt for who's in the family or these kindle covers which can be personalised with the owners name. Whilst £45 might seem crazy for a keyring it's a sweet present for a fashion lover who is had to buy for or if you're buying for someone who loves photography and fancies something a bit exciting.
