The spring marks the reopening of the V&A fashion galleries, to celebrate the refurbished spacethe V&A plays host to a special exhibition, displaying all kinds of extravagant dresses including red carpet dresses, catwalk pieces and beautiful ballgowns.The exhibition will be held over two floors and feature over 60 designs from various events from private dinners to royal balls.
The exhibition will showcase beautiful designs from the last 60 years that have been worn by celebrities and royals alike, work from designers such as McQueen, Erdem, Giles Deacon and Gareth Pugh will be on display just as it was seen on the catwalk. A metallic leather dress designed by Gareth Pugh especially for the exhibition will also be on display.
Royal gowns such as the Queen Mother's designed by Norman Hartnell and Princess Diana's 'Elvis Dress' as designed by Catherine Walker to dresses worn by today's young royals. Dresses worn by celebrities such as Elizabeth Hurley and Bianca Jagger.
Ballgowns: British Glamour Since 1950 runs from May 19th 2012 to January 6th 2013 at the V&A London.
