Happy Birthday MKA

So the lovely Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are 25 today, to celebrate here are a few images from The Row Resort collection 2012.

As usual MKA produced a stunning collection. Strong tailoring paired with softer pieces and strangely appealing breton striped socks. Sleek hair and makeup ensured every detail in the collection was perfect for summer and after viewing this collection I'm craving a holiday in the South of France.

Shameless plug

I entered a Nokia competition recently and I wanna get through to the next round so I ask a favour, Nokia decided to not create a nice easy link for me to put on here or share with my friends so it has to be the long way. So
If you go here:

http://www.facebook.com/nokia?sk=app_218272388202589

Then click on gallery, then on 'most liked' and finally click on my image (this one) and click on the like button.

If you do it thank you very much.

Glamour WOTY Awards

Maybe I'm just being fussy, I'm not really sure but not many people wowed me last night with their outfits for these awards. Everyone was just a bit too 'safe' and the ones that weren't didn't really pull off their outfits.
Here's the ones I liked though.

Lily Aldridge

Karen Gillian

Naomie Harris

Gemma Arterton

CFDA Awards

Sadly there were quite a few 'misses' last night at the CFDA awards but here are some of the outfits I loved.

Kirsten Dunst- I love this look on her, the hair is perhaps a little too harsh but she still looks amazing.

Amanda Brooks (Fashion director at Barney's) in Jil Sander.

Karlie Kloss, so a lot of people went for safe outfits but I still think Karlie looks good here.

Liv Tyler in Proenza Schouler

MKA Olsen in The Row, with Mary-Kate in Chanel Pre-Fall 2011. Perfect.

And for good measure Iris Apfel pictured here with Jason Wu

I love this woman

YSL Resort 2012

Okay okay, so everyone does nautical and it is getting a little bit boring but Stefano Pilati at YSL really made it work again (minus the anchor motif, what was that about?) Stefano mixed both of summers recurring trends, floral and nautical to make a hit collection, perhaps it was the perfect mix of them both or maybe this is one of the only Resort collections I've found interesting.

June Inspiration

Oh Bill Cunningham when can I see your film?

Want a big puffy skirt and a tiny waist

Finishing uni means leaving Southampton for good but not before a few trips to the Common to feed ducks etc

I don't have a shark top or a skirt this cool but my croc print top will have to do

Homemade Chanel goods till you can afford the real thing.

Designer in the spotlight- Charles Anastase

Charles Anastase originally studied Political Sciences before embarking upon his career as an illustrator. His work travelled the world in a series of exhibitions before he landed the chance to illustrate an advertising campaign for Calvin Klein in 2004.

His first fashion collection showed in Paris in 2005 to mixed reviews. In 2009 he moved to London with this collection being a nod to the first collection in Paris but this time it had so much more definition and he knew what he wanted to say with the clothes. Charles’ designs are a beautiful mix of sweet innocence with the floaty dresses and sheer materials with a sharp blend of tailoring which would be right at home on Savile Row. Charles’ dresses the likes of Chloe Sevigny, Keira Knightley and Alexa Chung.

Charles is easily one of my favourite designers, his designs have that perfect level of French chic without being a cliché or too twee. Whilst finding images for a first year university project I found Charles Anastase and fell in love and his collections have continued to wow me- I always look forward to his shows.
