The Name's Bond

Some of you may know that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise, to mark this occasion The Barbican will be holding an exhibition celebrating the design and style from one of the most iconic movie brands.

Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style will explore all things Bond, from the exotic locations and fancy cars to the craft behind the secret service and villains. The Barbican has said that the exhibition aims to take the viewer on a journey through Bond history with a multi-sensory experience.

Costume designs from the likes of Jenny Packham, Tom Ford and Phillip Treacy will also be on show, so whether you love Bond for his weaponry and gadgets or the classic glamorous style that has been consistent throughout its fifty years there’s something worth popping along for.

The exhibition will run from July 6th to September 5th, booking opens at 10am on March 1st with standard tickets costing £12.

Jil Sander Fall 2012

Raf Simons’ last collection for Jil Sander was probably his strongest for the label; it’s certainly my favourite and favourite of the season so far.

The collection started with models wearing beautiful blush pink and coffee coloured coats, grabbing at the lapels as if to hide their modesty. Both colours and materials developed through the collection, as if it were going from morning till evening wear. Light chiffon slips transformed into silkier shiny ones and colours transformed from blush pinks, warm coffees and pale greys into brighter pinks, blacks and sharp reds.

Overall the collection was sexy, with a little nod to his men’s fall collection by using black PVC to throw the sweet, feminine feel off with a touch of fetish but still carried the collection to a beautiful end.

I can’t wait to see where Raf Simons goes next, still hoping on Dior. If any collection proves he’s worthy it’s this one.

Sunday Lust List

Black canvas pumps in general- these ones are from Topshop.

The whole of the Shop Mac, Cook Mac collection simply for the packaging, so I shouldn't really buy anything from it.
Monki bracelet, planning a sneaky trip to Monki in the week considering the store in now open in London, might come back with a few too many things.

Burberry Brit mac from Net-a-Porter, really want a new rain mac so just lusting over this one till I find one I love on the highstreet.

Whistles dress from ASOS, so tempted to just order this- been the in sale for a while but I'm not sure it'll suit my petite frame.

ASOS skirt and top combo
Lusting over the skirt mainly but I can't think of enough ways to wear it using my existing wardrobe.
Reed Krakoff Pumps
I love contrast toe ballet flats but whilst a classic they getting a bit overdone, this tiny little spin on the classic is lovely.

Raf Simons to Dior?

Today Jil Sander announced the news that Raf Simons will be leaving the label after seven years as creative director. The show on Saturday will be his last with the label, leaving it open for the rumours of Jil Sander returning to the label, for a second time since her retirement eight years ago, to fly.

But where does this leave Raf Simons? Could he be in at Dior with the label finally replacing Galliano after he was sacked a year ago or even finding home at YSL to replace Stefano Pilati?

Digital print is clearly big news for autumn/winter 2012, with designers at LFW using it to its fullest potential. Whether they were mixing it with more neutral tones or going all in taking on print on print, it was present on many catwalks.

Whilst in my opinion graphic prints tend to scream summer weather, even though I do love a good print during the colder months to brighten my mood, I find these designers captured the right level of print and muted brights as to make these garments wearable during winter.

What trends have you noticed already popping up all over the catwalks?
