Chloé celebrates their 60th anniversary

The French fashion house is celebrating their 60th anniversary, the celebrations will kick off in September with an exhibition in Paris' Palais de Tokyo art space, curated by Judith Clark the exhibition aims to be a 'collage of ideas' in order to truly express the brand's spirit. A party will also be held in conjunction with the fashion house's catwalk show on October 1st.

Along with the exhibition will come the unveiling a new flagship store designed by architect Joseph Dirand which will open in Paris' Rue Saint-Honore in November. The celebrations will continue into the new year with a coffee table book due in the Autumn.

Chloé also have plans of launching a capsule collection of re-edition styles, 16 classic pieces from the brand's archive will be re-worked and sold in Chloé flagship stores. Pieces included will feature the works of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Phillo, and Hannah MacGibbon.

Chloé has been a great launch pad for designers having launched both Stella McCartney and Phoebe Phillo, so it's a great thing that they are re-visiting the designers that have helped the brand develop into what we see today.

Maison Martin Margiela x H&M

Maison Martin Margiela is said to be the next designer to collaborate with high street chain H&M, with a one off collection due to launch later in the year. Nothing has been officially confirmed by H&M yet but if the rumours are true, I expect H&M will make an announcement soon.

MMM  is known for it's deconstructed silhouettes and masculine vs feminine style so lets hope it transfers well to high street fashion. I'm very excited to see what this collection could offer and how Margiela designs will appeal to a mass market.

Karl Lagerfeld X Shu Uemura

Karl Lagerfeld will produce a 17 piece collection for Shu Uemura to be launched in November, Lagerfeld will design the packaging, select the colours for the collection and has already shot the ad campaign for the collection.

Lagerfeld is a longtime fan of Shu Uemura having used the company's products for his sketches, illustrations and even cartoons for the past 20 years explaining that 'other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colours'.

The collection will launch in 400 stores across the world and is just one of Karl Lagerfeld's many side projects in the works.

Trend Spotting-Vintage America

You're probably well aware of this trend and whether you love it or hate it 1950s America has had a huge part to play this season with full skirts, cat-eye sunglasses and even Grease Lightning esque car prints from Prada.

I'm not really keen on the flashing of the midriff it looks great on models and Karla but it's a hard look to pull off so proceed with caution and make it your own. I plan to play about with 50s style skirts with cinched in waists like Proenza Schouler.

What are your thoughts on this trend?

Coffee Table Books

I may love my kindle to death but I still love a good coffee table book, especially fashion related ones some of them might be expensive but in my opinion they are worth it.

Here are my current favourites:

The Satorialist and Facehunter street style books and Luella Bartleys Guide to English Style take pride of place on top of my wardrobe. I get a lot of inspiration from street style blogs so it only makes sense to keep the books of two of the best known street-style bloggers above my wardrobe for those days when I'm really stuck on what to wear.

I found the top book in a charity shop for the grand sum of 99p, it's full of the lovest fashion templates from the 1st Century right up to the early 20th.

Non fashion books now, although I did use the top two in my FMP collection in college and became highly interested in the human body and medicine, bit morbid for a fashion collection but it worked.
The Banksy book is a must have for anyone interested in his work or street-art in general and the poems of Sylvia Plath are great to read whenever and whatever your mood.
Where The Wild Things Are was my favourite book as a child probably due to being cast as Max in my school play, so when my boyfriend brought this to my house I was overjoyed and I keep it close so I can have a read whenever I want.

What are your favourite coffee table books?

Pyjama Party

As tomorrow is National Wear Your Pyjamas to Work Day, I thought I'd show some of my favourite 'pyjamas as clothing' looks. It's possibly my favourite trend atm as it combines my favourite materials with pure comfort.
