Julien Macdonald

Julien Macdonald, Fall 2011, LFW

There was a gothic feel to this collection, with lots of black and moody models with poker straight hair. Clothing was heavy and rich in texture, wools and chiffons were distressed whilst luxurious fur was wrapped up high upon the model’s necks.

The collection also contained pastel and gold toned ball gown style dresses which were embroidered and voluminous continuing the gothic feel throughout the collection but in a much softer way and more accessible way, perhaps they will be seen on the red carpet soon. Macdonald explained that his collection was inspired by a girl living the Scottish highlands who longs to run away and unleash her inner rock chick. Julien Macdonald proves that fantasy collections don’t have to be limited to Haute Couture.
